With 200 Watts per channel, 14 inputs and a high-performance AM/FM tuner, the MAC7200 Receiver is a music lover’s dream. They have been making tuners since the 1950s and they are one of the hallmarks of McIntosh, with the groundbreaking MR78 FM Tuner from 1972 considered an all-time classic in the audio industry. The built-in AM/FM tuner in the MAC7200 comes from that same illustrious line of McIntosh tuners and will pick up your favorite radio stations with unparalleled clarity and a realism that is free from noise and distortion.

The MAC7200's advanced signal quality monitor can display the multipath and noise levels of the incoming RF signal to help fine tune antenna placement for optimal reception. Dedicated PRESET and TUNING knobs enable easy radio operation. The FM tuner includes Radio Data System (RDS) support, allowing it to display optional information sent by radio stations such as the station’s name and call letters as well as the name of the artist and song being played. It features 20 presets for each radio band as well as a remote AM antenna.

The 14 inputs are comprised of both analog and digital input types. For analog, there is 1 balanced and 5 unbalanced inputs plus 1 Moving Coil and 1 Moving Magnet input to connect turntables. For digital, there are 2 coaxial and 2 optical inputs, 1 USB and 1 proprietary MCT input (for use with their MCT500 SACD/CD Transport). All inputs can be given custom names for user-friendly system control and configuration. The digital inputs are contained in their DA1 Digital Audio Module; the DA1 can be replaced by future modules to easily keep the MAC7200 up to date with the latest digital audio technologies.

At the heart of the DA1 is a powerful 8-channel, 32-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) used in Quad Balanced mode. PCM signals up to 32-bit/384kHz can be played via the USB input, allowing for playback of high resolution audio up to DSD256 and DXD 384kHz levels. The coax and optical inputs support up to 24-bit/192kHz files.

Their striking Monogrammed Heatsinks™ are included and they not only make a visual statement, but they are also very efficient at dissipating heat – which is why they warrant bearing the McIntosh “Mc” logo. They are connected to advanced high current output transistors that eliminate warm-up time so the MAC7200 is ready to go from the moment you turn it on. Other McIntosh technologies found in the MAC7200 include their Autoformer™ to deliver the full 200 Watts to each of your speakers regardless of their impedance, Power Guard®, Sentry Monitor™, Home Theater PassThru, bass and treble tone controls, High Drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD®), and gold-plated speaker binding posts.

The MAC7200 is one of many McIntosh products to receive Roon Tested designation from Roon Labs. As a Roon Tested partner, McIntosh has provided equipment to Roon for testing with a variety of different operating systems and computers, and shared information about its design and capabilities.

The entire unit is wrapped in the timeless McIntosh appearance with blue watt meters, a black glass front panel with aluminum end caps, control knobs and illuminated logo. Contact your local dealer to learn more.

The stuff of legend

McIntosh is famous for the quality and longevity of their components. The MAC7200 stereo receiver was designed to deliver performance that's on par with McIntosh separates, with the convenience of a single chassis. Music lovers can enjoy their favorite analog and digital sources with pristine sound.

Along with its stellar audio performance, the MAC7200 boasts the classic McIntosh look — black glass front panel, glowing blue power meters, big metal knobs, and illuminated logo. And this gorgeous receiver is designed and built right here in the USA.

Your music at its best

With a total of 14 audio inputs, including six digital connections, the MAC7200 offers some seriously versatile options for a stereo receiver. For your analog audio gear, you'll find five unbalanced RCA inputs, plus a balanced XLR input for professional or high-end source components. The high-quality built-in phono preamp provides separate connections for a turntable with either a moving-magnet or moving-coil cartridge.

Future-proofing for your digital music sources

All of the MAC7200's digital inputs are contained in McIntosh's DA1 Digital Audio Module. At the heart of the DA1 is a high-performance 8-channel 32-bit DAC. It extracts pure, detailed audio signals from your disc player, music streamer, or TV. The USB input handles PCM-based digital music files up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD files up to 11.2 MHz, for enjoying high-resolution audio from your computer. The DA1 module can be replaced by future modules to keep the MAC7200 up to date with emergent digital audio technologies.

Power to spare

The MAC7200 delivers huge sound with its 200 watts per channel — smooth, rich, non-fatiguing sound that McIntosh amplifiers are known for. One reason is the company's patented Autoformers. These special output transformers feature dedicated connections for speaker impedances of 8, 4, or 2 ohms to ensure that the receiver will deliver its full rated power into any speaker load. It's an expensive way to build an amp, but it means that even exotic, difficult-to-drive high-end speakers will perform admirably with the MAC7200.

A Home Theater Pass Through feature lets you make the MAC7200 part of a multichannel surround sound system. The right and left front channels from an A/V processor or surround decoder can pass through the receiver's analog inputs, allowing you to bring its full 200 watts per channel to bear on your main front speakers.

Radio tuner

Even with the growing number of music sources out there, over-the-air radio still holds magic. If you want to enjoy it through your system with the best sound possible, you need a great tuner, like the one McIntosh built into the MAC7200. It's been carefully crafted to deliver optimum sound from AM and FM radio broadcasts. With 20 presets available for each radio band, you'll have quick access to your favorite stations.
